Forest soils in Spain store as much carbon as has been emitted by its population during the last 29 years

According to a new study, forest soils in Spain store around 2,544 million tons of carbon.  This amount is equivalent to the anthropogenic emissions of CO2 in Spain during the last 29 years.

Forests growing in nutrient-rich soils absorb more carbon, new research shows

A new study carried out by an international team of researchers and published in the journal Nature Climate Change, shows that nutrient availability in forest soils plays a crucial role in determining the efficiency of forests to sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
