New IUFRO paper compiles current developments in forest policies and forest-policy research in Europe
The IUFRO Occasional Paper 29 - COST FP 1207: Orchestrating Forest-Related Policy Analysis in Europe (ORCHESTRA)) has been recently released. This report collects different cases and examples of policies and current developments from forest-related policy arenas and the forest-policy science community in Europe.
The paper is based on the contributions made at national level by different IUFRO member organisations. It refers to 23 countries from all geographic regions of Europe and thus offers a broad overview on several selected topics and current issues in the field of forest policies and forest policy research in the European region.
The data collected in the different countries covered information on a range of subjects. These included, among others, the actors involved in forest policy formulation and implementation, the most current issues touched by forest policies (here the respondents to the survey put ‚Äúclimate change‚ÄĚ at the top of the list), and topics covered by forest policy research in the countries.
The country reports, on which the synthesis report is based, were produced by forest policy researchers in the respective countries. The participants in the study are involved in COST Action FP 1207 and most of them represent research organisations linked with or incorporated into core forest-related research organisations (such as forest faculties or forest research organisations).
