FOREST EUROPE Special Issue: Ministerial Conference outcomes
This special issue of the newsletter is published on the occasion of the FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference that was held 14 - 16 June in Oslo, Norway. The newsletter informs about the outcomes of the conference, where ministers and high-level representatives from 41 signatory countries and the EU agreed to launch negotiations on a legally binding agreement on forests in Europe. This was an historical breakthrough in the process to preserve European forests and their environmental, societal and economic benefits for present and future generations. Furthermore, the ministers and high-.level representatives agreed on a common vision, strategic coals, measureable targets and priority actions at national and international level to enhance sustainable forest management and a mission for FOREST EUROPE. The State of Europe’s Forests 2011 Report was also launched at the Ministerial Conference.
